The yarn painting is complete! I used a photo I took a few years ago at the Great Swamp Sanctuary in Walterboro, SC for the model. I scoured through my stash of "specialty" yarns and found some interesting rug yarns and then paired them with some acrylics. For the center flower area, I used some dmc cotton threads and some small beads. My Art in Ed. teacher, Rachel Snow, showed me how to do cording. I used it as a way to show the veins in the inner flower area. I really liked doing this piece.

Huichol Art
There are some wonderful Huichol Yarn Art Paintings at Indigo Arts Gallery. I am attempting my own rendition of this one by Ana Rosa Jimenez
gallery_huichol_jimenez2.html. It is a lot of fun to (re)create these. I am in the process of writing a multi-cultural art lesson plan for the visual arts curriculum and found these beauties. What a great way to utilize the art of story-telling!

Craft Junkie
I go online to seek out a cheap (free) crochet pattern for some baby booties. Within seconds, I enter yarn heaven. I can't decide which of the 23, 591 results in the search is the one I want. About an hour or two later, I have bookmarked 10 sites with some spectacular patterns for all sorts of yarn projects. None of them are for baby booties. Focus, Christina!
I try again, this time with a more conscious mind. With all of my might, I hold back the craft junkie in myself just long enough to find the perfect pattern for the booties. Yea Me!
So, I've decided to create a site where I can post these great pattern and project finds for the next time I get a sweet tooth. This way, I can organize my bookmarks and keep up with the sites and blogs I love the most. Also, its a great way for me to share these treasures with you fellow yarn / art junkies.
I have posted the pattern from Lion Brand for those of you wanting a fairly easy and quick bootie project.
